York, Pennsylvania’s Alec Peckmann has signed an NLI to swim for the Penn State Nittany Lions in the fall, joining fellow commits Devon Chenot, Michael Daly, Teddy Perelli, Zac Zwijacz in the class of 2022.
Peckmann is a senior at Central York High School. He swims year-round with York YMCA under head coach John Nelson. He is coming off a successful run at the 2018 YMCA Short Course National Championships, where he was runner-up in the 200 IM, 7th in the 100 free, 13th in the 400 IM, and 14th in the 200 back. He lowered his times in the 50/100 free, 200 back, and 200 IM. At last summer’s 2017 YMCA Long Course National Championships he was 3rd in the 200 IM and 11th in the 400 IM and went PBs in the 50/200 free, 100 breast, 100 fly, and 200/400 IM. In between the two he competed at Winter Juniors East in the 100/200 free, 200 back and 200/400 IM, reaching the B final in the 200 IM.
Peckmann owns all the individual records at Central York High School but the 500 free. He won the 500 free and 200 IM at the YAIAA League Championships in February, and came within 1.8 seconds of the 500 record, nearly completing the sweep of records.

Logen Brockway is better from dallastown
No “dog in this hunt” (since I don’t know this young man) but it’s really too bad that you won’t (not that you can’t)wish this young man well with his choice to swim for and study at Penn State. And I hope that should Logen Brockway “post” his choice of schools to attend here on Swim Swam that his post won’t receive the same kind of comment that you left here. Congratulations Alec on obtaining a scholarship and I wish you the best in the pool and in the classroom!
This guy is super versatile and getting better every year. Go Penn State!
