Sydney McCracken from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska women’ swimming and diving team for the 2021-22 school year and beyond.

McCracken attends Kennett High School and swims year-round with Kennett Area YMCA. At the truncated 2020 PIAA Class AA Championships this spring, she came in 2nd in the 100 breast (1:03.03) and 15th in the 200 IM (2:07.97), notching a lifetime best in the former. She swam the 50/100 free and 50/100/200 breast last summer at YMCA National Long Course Championships and made finals in the 50 breast (14th) and 100 breast (24th).

McCracken will join the Cornhuskers with fellow class of 2025 commits Beatriz Padrón, Ilaria Murzilli, JoJo Randby, Madi Lloyd, and Maia Hall. She would have been one of the five fastest breaststrokers on the Nebraska roster last season and will join a training group that includes junior Morgan Heasty and freshmen Allison Henry, Catie Pentlarge, and Ella Stein.
