Ethan Maloney, who hails from Lebanon, New Jersey, is headed to Blacksburg, Virginia to study at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University next fall.

Maloney moved to Florida last summer and enrolled at the Bolles School for his senior year. He now represents Bolles School Sharks in club swimming, after having grown up with the team Streamline Aquatics Club. A free/breast/fly/IM specialist, he placed 3rd in the 100 breast (55.55) and 5th in the 50 free (20.74) at the Florida High School Class 1A State Championships in November. A month later, he went 53.74 in the breast during prelims at Winter Juniors-East, qualifying second for finals. He wound up in third place with 53.97 that evening. He also competed in the 50/100 free and 200 IM and he left Greensboro with a PB in the 100 breast and 200 IM.

Maloney will suit up for the H2Okies with fellow class of 2026 commits Landon Gentry (#4), Will Hayon (#10), Carl Bloebaum, Aiken Do, Mitchell Stroud, and Tanish George. His best 100 breast time would have scored in the C final at 2021 ACC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. It took 45.86 in the 100 fly, 19.87/43.81 in the 50/100 free, and 1:46.94 in the 200 IM to get second swims at conference.
