USA Swimming Announces 2016‐17 Open Water National Team

USA Swimming announced today the 12 members of the Open Water National Team for 2016-17. As a reminder, the qualifying standards were as follows:

The members of the 2016 USA Open Water Olympic Team were already automatically named to the National team for the 2016-17 cycle, and the remaining positions were filled by order of place finish from the 2016 USA Swimming Open Water Nationals 10K event until a total of 6 men and 6 women were named to the USA Swimming Open Water National Team.

Haley Anderson, Jordan Wilimovsky and Sean Ryan will represent the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and had thus already made the 2016-17 roster. Andrew Gemmell, who won the Open Water National men’s 10K event last month, led the four addition men named to the team, while Ashley Twichell, victorious in the women’s 10K, was the first of the five women added to the roster.
