CHICAGO (Nov. 2, 2023)— In its final meet of 2023 at Flames Natatorium, the UIC swimming and diving team dominated from start to finish en route to victories on both the men’s and women’s side against Davenport Thursday night.
The men’s team earned a 211-84 win, while the women’s team defeated the Panthers 199-97.

“Tonight was a great night in the pool. It was awesome to see the team finish off our fall dual meet season so strong. I’m pretty sure every swimmer had at least one season-best time and a few of our student-athletes even recorded lifetime-bests. We’re excited for the next 10 days of training and preparing for the mid-season invite in mid-November at IUPUI.”

Diving
Men’s
- Sophomore Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Kentucky) continued his early season dominance, winning the one-meter (334.88 points) and three-meter (355.50 points) diving board events. Nolan has placed first in seven out of the eight competitions he has participated in this season.
- Hunter Trautmann (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) finished in second on the three-meter diving board, with a score of 310.28, while Cole Tremewan (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) placed second in the one-meter diving event (317.85 points).
- Bruno Carrillo (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) earned two third place finishes, scoring 307.35 points in the three-meter competition and 306.83 points in the one-meter diving event.
Women’s
- The Flames opened the entire meet by sweeping the podium in the women’s one-meter diving board competition
- Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St. Mary’s School) – 256.05 points.
- Ciara McCliment (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) – 247.80 points
- Gabby Richards (Saline, Mich./Saline) – 221.70 points.
- The victory was Morrison’s first win on the one-meter board. She also was victorious on the three-meter board, winning the event Thursday with a score of 256.05.
- McCliment finished second in both the one-meter and the three-meter diving events and has six top-three finishes this season.
- Richards recorded her first top-three finish of the season after placing third in the one-meter diving competition. Sophomore Kathryn Kleckza (Franklin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) placed third on the three-meter board with a score of 234.30 points to earn her first top-three finish of 2023.
Swimming
Men’s
- Seniors Ben Ramminger (Deforest, Wis./Deforest Area), Liam Davis (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North), Rafe Dolan Peterson (Austin, Minn./ Wisconsin-Green Bay) and junior Luke Wiesner (Chicago, Ill./West Chicago Community) earned a three-second victory in the 400 medley relay (3:22.03).
- Dolan Peterson continued to see success in the pool, winning title in the 100 butterfly (50:53).
- Davis also earned an individual win later in the meet, placing first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.89.
- Wiesner was victorious in the 100 backstroke (51.30), with Cory Michalek (Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine) finishing in second (51.51) and freshman James McCarthy (Minnetonka, Minn./DeLaSalle) placing third (52.12). McCarthy later edged out Wiesner in the 200 backstroke for the win, finishing with a time of 1:52.91.
- Freshman Jack Mills (Toronto, Canada/Lawerence Park) had two individual wins in the meet, winning the 1,000 freestyle in 9:27.51 and taking first in the 500 freestyle (4:40.49).
- Ramminger also was a multi-individual event winner, placing first in both the 200 breaststroke (2:05.04) and the 200 individual medley (1:54.02).
Women’s
- The team of seniors Taira Juronis (Palos Hills, Ill./Amos Alonzo Stagg), Izabella Del Rozario (South Elgin, Ill./Saint Charles North), junior Kendra Preski (Springfield, Ill./Colorado State) and sophomore Isabella Drake (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead Union) earned the women’s team its first win of the meet in the 400 medley relay, as the group finished with a time of 3:52.80.
- Sophomore Madison Helmick (Bingham farms, Mich./Birmingham Groves) had her strongest meet of the season, first finishing the 1000 freestyle in a career-best time of 10:12.88. She also won the 50 freestyle in 23.88 seconds. Her third individual win of the night came in the 500 freestyle, which she won with a finish of 5:00.42.
- Drake was victorious in the 100 backstroke (58.56) and came in second in the 200 backstroke (2:07.71).
- Juronis earned individual wins in both the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.21 and the 200 breaststroke (2:20.77).
- Del Rosario won the 100 butterfly for the second straight week, finishing in 57.45.
- The Flames ended the meet with a 200 freestyle relay win behind the team of Del Rosario, Helmick, senior Jessica Phillips (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and junior Kendra Preski (Springfield, Ill./Colorado State). The relay team finished with a time of 1:36.53.
UP NEXT FOR THE FLAMES
The Flames return to competition at IUPUI’s 2023 House of Champions Invitational beginning on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. The three day event will run through Nov. 18.

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Panther swimming and diving teams traveled to the Windy City on Friday night to square off with NCAA Division I program UIC (Illinois-Chicago). The outcome was a sweep by the Flames as Davenport fell 211-84 on the men’s side and 199-97 on the women’s side.
Women
- Rebecca Wallis – 2nd in the 1000 free with a time of 10:23.82 (NCAA B cut) and 2nd in the 100 free with a season best time of 52.60
- Ella Wagner – 1st in the 200 Back with a personal best time of 2:04.50 and set a personal best in the 100 breast at 1:05.27
- Aubrey Underwood – 3rd in the 200 free with a season best time of 1:56.04 and 3rd in the 500 free with a personal best time of 5:06.89
- Makayla Muir – Had a personal best in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.10
- Julia Mizik – Finished 4th in the 100 back with a personal best time of 1:00.87
- Asyia Shank – 2nd in the 100 fly with a season best mark of 59.71
Men
- Marcel Setlak – 1st in the 50 free with a personal best time of 21.91
- Grant Sandstedt – 2nd in the 200 free with a personal best time of 1:44.65
- David Szczygiel – 2nd in the 200 fly with a season best time of 1:50.52
- Austin Mills – 2nd in the 100 free with a time of 47.42
- Eric Perczak – 2nd in the 100 fly with a season best mark of 50.67
