UC Santa Barbara Promotes Jaclyn Rosen to Head Swimming Coach

The University of California Santa Barbara has promoted former assistant coach Jaclyn Rosen to Head Coach of its women’s and men’s swimming teams. Rosen will take the place of Matt Macedo, who helmed the program from 2016 to 2021. Macedo left UCSB in May 2021 for the head coaching role at UC Davis.

Rosen joined the UCSB coaching staff in 2020 as an assistant coach, though her resume by that time already showed over a decade of collegiate coaching experience. Prior to UCSB, Rosen worked as an assistant coach at the University of San Diego (3 seasons, 2017-2020), Bowling Green State University (2 seasons, 2015-2017), University of Cincinnati (1 season, 2014-2015), and as a volunteer assistant at San Jose State University (3 seasons, 2011-2014), and City College of San Francisco (1.5 seasons, 2010-2011).

As a student-athlete, Rosen swam for the University of Hawaii, serving as a team captain her last 2 years. Rosen graduated from Hawaii in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Rosen earned her Masters Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from San Jose State University in 2014.

At the University of San Diego, Rosen worked primarily with the mid-distance and distance freestyle groups, and coached 16 CSCAA National Invitational Championship (NIC) qualifiers, as well as 9 swimmers that broke USD program records. Rosen also played a large part in USD’s recruiting, and is credited with recruiting 35 student-athletes over two-and-a-half seasons.

UCSB is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). At the 2021 MPSF Championships, the UCSB women placed 4th out of 7 teams while the UCSB men placed 3rd out of 5 teams.
