10-Time NCAA All-American, and 2013 USA Swimming National Champion, Tom Luchsinger has joined the post-graduate training group under Bob Bowman at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, where he will train alongside the likes of fellow World Championship qualifiers Conor Dwyer and France’s Yannick Agnel.
“I decided about a week ago that I was going to move down to North Baltimore Aquatic Club to train with Bob Bowman,” Luchsinger told us on Wednesday. “I’m very excited about starting the next chapter in my swimming career!”
Bowman continues to fill in the hole left in his training group by the people who have taken over the spots vacated by his most famous trainee, Michael Phelps. In adding Agnel, he picked up the 2012 Olympic and 2013 World Champion in the 200 free: an event that Phelps dominated for so long. Now he’s added Luchsinger, who is America’s first ‘best 200 butterflier’ in over a decade who is not named Michael Phelps.
Luchsinger finished 5th in the 200 fly final at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona, Spain now that he has completed his NCAA career at the University of North Carolina.
Allison Schmitt has one semester left to graduate from Georgia before she returns to the NBAC post grad training according to an interview with Coach Bowman on NBC during the World Championships coverage.
Great move for Tom Luchsinger! They know how to swim butterfly there.
Wow! It looks like many swimmers want to train at NBAC.
New people in the training staff, new swimmers, a little revival for NBAC.
It seems Bob Bowman builts a big training center for professional swimmers.
Good for Agnel to have this new environment.
I would be surprised if the list of new names was finished.
Perhaps the surprise Leveaux in the next weeks? I know he loves the nightlife but perhaps he has become serious. 🙂
Allison Schmitt and Megan Romano? Do they train there full time now?
Correction. Bob Bowman builds.
or maybe Bob Bowman is building
You’re right. 🙂
