2016 Canadian Olympic Trials: Savard, Lacroix Look To Dominate Fly

Canada has the potential to put multiple swimmers in both the 100 and 200 fly finals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, the question is, who will they be? Katerine Savard, Noemie Thomas, and Penny Oleksiak look to go head-to-head in the 100 whereas the heavy favourite Audrey Lacroix will have to defeat Emily Overholt for her spot on the team.

Folks looking forward to seeing Russian Vladimir Morozov sprint his way to the finals in the men’s 100 free will be disappointed to see he has scratched this morning’s prelims in Austin.

Michael Andrew Scratches 200 Breast On 2nd Day Of Minneapolis Pro Swim

After tying in the 100 butterfly yesterday morning, Michael Andrew will be right next to Michael Phelps in the 100 backstroke. Phelps is entered with a 53.76 and Andrew is entered with a 54.74.

Team Canada’s Potential World Championship Roster Starts To Form – Only Six Swimmers Safe

The six swimmers above are guaranteed a spot on the team considering that they’re the only ones who have fully met the priority 1 selection criteria. The others are fairly safe to go to Pan Am Games, but a spot on the World Championships roster isn’t certain.

Swimming Canada Releases Psych Sheets For Trials; Almost 200 Foreign Entries Made Of Mostly American College Swimmers

Swimming Canada released the psych sheet for the 2015 Canadian Swimming Trials which will be the selection meet for the Canadian World Championship team, Pan Am team, and World University Games team.

Sam Corea Puts Denver Into Top 30 With 200 Backstroke Bronze

Denver ended up finishing in 28th overall based solely on points scored by Corea. Corea was able to create 33 points for her team which put them into the top 30 for the overall rankings.

Sam Corea Becomes Seventh Fastest Performer Ever In 100 Fly

One of the most impressive aspects of the time is that it ranks her as the seventh best performer all-time in the 100 fly. Elaine Breeden and Beryl Gastaldello were ranked seventh prior to Corea’s swim with 50.87s.

Denver’s flyer threw down the second fastest split out of all the swimmers during prelims. Sam Corea rocked a 50.51 100 fly split to help her team put up a 3:34.74 in the 400 medley relay.
