Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kyle Korvick of Gulliver Swim Club in Miami, Florida has verbally committed to swim at South Carolina starting in the fall of 2022. Korvick specializes in an array of freestyle events, as well as backstroke and IM.

“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of South Carolina! I want to thank my coaches, teammates, family and friends for all of their continued support and helping me get to where I am today.  I’d also like to thank Coach Poppell and the rest of the South Carolina staff for seeing my potential and giving me an opportunity to compete in the SEC.  I can’t wait for the next four! GO GAMECOCKS!!!

Korvick is a senior at Miami Palmetto Senior High School and specializes in the 100 and 200 free. In his career at Miami Palmetto thus far, Korvick is 6-for-6, qualifying for the A-Final at the FHSAA 4A State Championships (big schools) in both events during each of his 3 seasons.

His best times (SCY) include:

  • 50 free – 21.10
  • 100 free – 45.11
  • 200 free – 1:38.84
  • 500 free – 4:28.10
  • 1650 free – 15:44.65
  • 100 back – 51.15
  • 200 back – 1:49.98
  • 200 IM – 1:53.18
  • 400 IM – 3:59.74

Most recently, Korvick attended the USA Swimming Futures Championships and hit two new personal best times in the 200 free (1:54.72) and the 200 back (2:11.57). Korvick’s lone final at Futures was in the 200 free, where he moved up from 24th to 18th overall.

In March, Korvick dominated at the Florida Gulf Coast Senior Championships. At this meet, Korvick was a 9-time finalist and 4-time state champion, further demonstrating his versatility. Korvick won the 100 free (45.42), 200 free (1:39.42), 500 free (4:28.10), and 400 IM (4:01.70), placed 2nd in the 50 free/50 back/200 back/200 IM and 3rd in the 100 back.

Korvick will serve as a valuable recruit with the ability to race a range of freestyle events, in addition to back and IM. Based on last season’s results, Korvick would’ve ranked #3 in the 500 free, #2 in the 1650 free, #4 in the 200 back, #4 in the 200 IM, and #2 in the 400 IM.

South Carolina is a Division I program that competes out of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). At the 2021 SEC Championships, the South Carolina men placed last (10th) with 232 points, almost 200 points behind 9th place (427.5).

Korvick will join Steven Busch and Tommy Mitchell as members of the incoming class of 2026. This is the first full recruiting cycle for South Carolina’s new head coach Jeff Poppel.
