Coleman Stewart followed up his American Record in the 100 backstroke with a World Record performance on day 2 of match 2 of the 2021 ISL season.
Stewart blasted a 48.33 to knock 0.25 from Kliment Kolesnikov‘s World Record, set at the 2020 ISL Final. Stewart’s swim also jackpotted the entire field, stealing all the points from the competition, resulting in a 37-point haul for the Cali Condors.
Stewart was out in a blazing 23.45 and back in a 24.88. Yesterday, for comparison, Stewart turned in 23.94 and brought it home in 24.97.

Like Manaudou, Stewart’s mustache seems to have super-powerful power.
Seems similar to Seto coming back from the olympics and finding his form. Maybe some swimmers are slightly overtrained and need to take a more significant break in order to elicit their fastest swimming.
I’d say he finally found his LCM form at Trials, especially with his 100 fly and 100 free finishes, and it’s carried over with more confidence and endurance for his baby, the short course format. As for Seto, he just choked at Tokyo. It happens.
Where’s he training?
I’d be curious to see the splits per 25 compared to Kolesnikov. Stewart’s second lap was something else…
