“Harvard is a very renowned school that is known all over the world, with a superior academic program and an awesome swim program as well. It is a huge honor to be able to swim for such a prestigious school and I look forward to being part of the team. Go Crimson!”

Kevin Dai of Valencia, California, has made a verbal commitment to the Harvard University class of 2020*. Dai swims for Valencia High School, for whom he placed eighth in the 200 IM (1:50.93) and sixth (45.74) in the 100 free at the 2015 CIF-SS Division I Championships last May. He also led off Valencia’s winning 200 free relay (21.25). Dai also swims for Canyons Aquatic Club. A Summer Juniors qualifier in the 50m free and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100/200 free and 200 IM, his top times include:

  SCY LCM
200 IM 1:49.58 2:09.07
400 IM 3:58.45 4:43.91
200 free 1:39.22 1:55.24
100 free 44.84 52.46
50 free 20.58 24.00
200 back 1:53.30 2:09.75
100 back 52.00 1:00.81

It took 20.59 to qualify for the C final at 2015 Ivy League Men’s Championships, so Dai would have just squeaked in. He also would have scored in the C finals of the 100/200 free and 200/400 IM.

Other verbal commits to the Harvard University class of 2020 include:

*DISCLAIMER: Dai has not yet been officially accepted to Harvard. As is true with all Ivy League schools, Harvard’s Admission Office will not send its acceptance letter until the beginning of December, along with those of all Early Action candidates. The procedure for a recruited athlete like Dai is for Admissions to review his transcripts and SAT scores, “support his application for admissions in the fall,” issue him a Likely Letter, then offer him acceptance into the class of 2020.
