Rutgers Picks Up Second Diving Transfer in Mizzou’s Savana Trueb

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

After spending her first two years of collegiate eligibility at the University of Mizzou, Savana Trueb has announced that she will be making the move to the Big Ten by transferring to Rutgers University for her two remaining years of eligibility.

As a high school athlete, Trueb competed in Anchorage, Alaska, where she was a state champion on the 1-meter board in her senior season. At Mizzou, in her freshman year, she competed at the SEC Championships where her top finish was 23rd on the 1-meter. She improved greatly during her second season with the program, claiming the conference title in the same event by 13 points over Tanesha Lucoe of Alabama. At the NCAA Championships, she finished 24th on the 1-meter and 25th on the 10-meter.

Rutgers is coming off of a season that saw the program fail to score any points at the 2021 Big-10 Championships. The team finished last out of the 13 teams at the meet.

While the Scarlet Knights struggled on the boards last season, the program will look completely different this season as long time Nebraska head coach Natasha Chikina will take over the diving program. Joining her in making the move from Nebraska will be Abigail Knapton, who was a six-time All-American for the Cornhuskers and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Rutgers only had 4 swimmers and 1 diver. They didn’t FAIL to score points as they decided to redshirt the vast majority of the team. That a pretty big detail to leave out.

Exactly. The sentence should have been “Rutgers redshirted almost their entire team last season, and therefore did not score points at Big 10s.”
