Kenyon College Picks Up Commitment From Mirjavohir Marvarov

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mirjavohir Marvarov has announced that he will be coming to the United States this fall as a part of Kenyon College’s class of 2021.

Marvarov hails from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, but has been living and training in Muscat, Oman with the Nautilus Swimming Club.

He and his family have lived in Oman for the last 12 years, but are citizens of Uzbekistan.

Kenyon reports that he will have 3 years of eligibility for the Lords.

Marvarov has experience competing internationally at the 2019 FINA World Cup stop in Doha. At that meet he competed in five events, with his top finish being 16th in the 200 breast. He finished that race in 2:35.15.

Primarily a sprint freestyler and breaststroker, most of Marvarov’s lifetime best times are from 2021. Competing at various Nautilus meets, he has already achieved short course meters best times in the 100 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 200 breast, as well as a long course best in the 50 free.

Best SCM Times (With SCY Conversions)

  • 50 free – 23.12 (20.8)
  • 100 free – 50.41 (45.4)
  • 50 breast – 28.65 (25.8)
  • 100 breast – 1:01.80 (55.6)
  • 200 breast – 2:18.20 (2:04.5)

While Kenyon, like most division three schools, is coming off a season with limited training and competition opportunities due to Covid-19, two years ago they were the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference champions, defeating Denison. At the last DIII NCAA Championship in 2019, the men finished third, right behind Denison and Emory.

When he arrives on campus this fall, Marvarov will make an immediate impact on the program, especially at the conference level, when he arrives on campus this fall. In 2020, at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, he would have qualified for the A-finals of the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 100 free. He would have been just off making Kenyon’s 200 and 400 free relays.
