For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Andrew Dobrzanski of Milan Swim Club and Milan High School in Michigan has verbally committed to Arizona State for fall 2022.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and pursue a degree in architecture at Arizona State University. This is a dream come true to be a Sun Devil. I’m so grateful for the ASU coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. I want to thank all of my family, friends, and coaches for their support in the classroom and the pool. I can’t wait to be a Sun Devil and a part of ASU’s incredible program.

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 100 breast – 54.67
  • 200 breast – 2:05.38
  • 200 IM – 1:50.07
  • 50 free – 21.03
  • 100 free – 46.90

This past weekend, Dobrzanski won Michigan HS Division III titles in the 200 IM and 100 breast, hitting best times in both. In the 100 breast, his time of 54.67 smashed the Division III state record by over a second. Pre-pandemic, Dobrzanski was 56.24 in the 100 breast and 1:52.17 in the 200 IM, so this has been a big season for him.

At the state meet, he was also 25.18 swimming breast on Milan’s 200 medley relay and anchored their 400 free relay in 45.42. Dobrzanski was named the Swimmer of the Meet for his performances over the weekend, while his 100 breast win defending his freshman season victory in 2019; the 2020 meet was canceled due to the pandemic.

In long course meters, Dobrzanski’s 100 breast PR of 1:03.51 is just off of the Olympic Trials Wave I cut of 1:03.29.

Arizona State redshirted its entire roster for the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic. During the 2019-20 season, they were led by Elijah Warren (53.85) and Aaron Beauchamp (53.99) in the 100 breast. With another year of high school left, Dobrzanski could be at that speed or faster before he gets to campus, and should arrive immediately able to contribute to the team.

Dobrzanski joins Owen McDonald, Jake MasonJonny Kulow, and Parker Reynolds in ASU’s class of 2026.
