Madelyn Christman from Fishers, Indiana has announced her verbal commitment to remain in state and swim for the University of Notre Dame.

Christman is a junior at Carmel High School. She swims year-round for Carmel Swim Club. Essentially a long axis stroke specialist, she is a 2020 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 200 back, a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 back and 200 IM, and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 50/100 free and 400 IM. Christman was runner-up in the 50 free (22.99) and placed 5th in the 100 free (50.92) at the 2020 IHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championships. She also anchored the winning 200 free relay (22.55) and swam a leg on the state-champion 400 free relay (50.09), contributing to Carmel High School’s 34th consecutive state title.
Christman swam the 100/200 back and 200 IM at both 2019 Winter Juniors East and Speedo Junior Nationals. Her big meet last spring was Indy Sectionals where she earned her Trials cuts in the 200 back (2:14.65).

Christman will join fellow verbal commits to the class of 2025 Ana Herceg, Annie Behm, Jessica Geriane, Madeline Menkhaus, Maggie Graves, Mary Cate Pruitt, and Sophia Karras when she suits up for the Fighting Irish. She would have made the C final in the 100 back at 2020 ACC Women’s Championships. Top Notre Dame backstroker Carly Quast will have graduated by the fall of 2021 but Christman will overlap with Bayley Stewart, Sydney Winters, Sarah Boyle, and Catie Brennan.
