The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) held its boys swimming & diving championship earlier this month, with Horace Greeley taking first in convincing fashion.

There was one record that fell during the meet, as Sam Brown, a Burnt Hills-Scotia senior, won the 100 back in 48.66. The swim broke the NY public high school record of 48.78, which had stood since 2014. Brown, a Mizzou recruit, posted a new personal best in the event with his performance.

Brown would also help Burnt Hills-Scotia to victory in the 200 medley relay. He teamed up with Liam Marshall, Keegan Stafford, and Addison Pokines to swim a 1:33.72, touching just off the NYSPHSAA record of 1:33.42.

Horace Greeley picked up the other 2 relays. In the 200 free relay, Jonathan Suh, Adam Nack, Connor McHugh, and Nikita Sakharuk combined for a 1:25.85 to win by a second. Suh, McHugh and Sakharuk teamed up with Hudson Chung to win the 400 free relay in 3:07.35.

Albany Academy’s Brayden Henkel won the 100 breast in 54.88, beating out Wappingers’ Sebastian Smith (55.57). The swim marked a personal best for Henkel. Smith won the 100 fly earlier in the meet, swimming a 48.98.
