Mexican standout Danny Flores has added her name to BYU’s class of 2025 on the women’s side.
I’m super excited to announce my official commitment to Brigham Young University. I want to thank my family, coaches and friends who have supported me through all this process. Can’t wait to join the team and start this new chapter in my life.💙🐾
TOP TIMES (LCM)
- 200 free – 2:08.51 / 1:53.20
- 400 free – 4:28.00 / 5:00.31
- 100 fly – 1:05.88 / 58.30
- 200 fly – 2:20.63 / 2:04.81
Flores has competed for Team Mexico at the 2020 UANA Cup, where she swam lifetime bests in the 200 free (2:08.51) and 400 free (4:28.00). She also raced for Mexico at the 2019 CCCAN Championships, where her highest finish came in the 400 free at fourth in the 15-17 age division (4:31.04).
With her converted times, Flores would’ve finished sixth in the 500 free, sixth in the 200 fly and eighth in the 200 free at the 2021 MPSF Championships, where BYU placed second overall.
Flores joins Regan Geldmacher and Halli Williams in BYU’s incoming class. She’s also the third Mexican junior national team-er to join the BYU ranks this coming fall, following Abraham Barragan and Diego Camacho.

Are the three Mexicans going to BYU Mormon? Or is there just a solid recruiting pipeline?
BYU has an excellent foreign language program and LOTS of Spanish speakers due to missionary work. I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t Mormon and this was just a good recruiting pipeline – but either way it’s cool they’re getting lots of talented swimmers from Mexico!
Also, their assistant coach is from Mexico City which I’m sure is very enticing to Mexican athletes.
