Mutual of Omaha BREAKOUT Swim Clinic director and 5-time Olympic medalist, Josh Davis, interviews USMS guest star and 6-time Olympic medalist Matt Grevers at 2015 USMS Spring Nationals in San Antonio.

Josh, 42 years old, dropped a 1:38.23 breaking the 200 yard free USMS Record for the 40-44 age group. (Michael Ross held the record at 1:38.94.)

Grevers swam several events, but talked mostly about his 50 breaststroke, acting like his 24 second swim was just ok.  Sounds like his 50 breaststroke was all about living the Kevin Cordes experience…if only for two short laps.   For Grevers, USMS Spring Nationals was a great time to have fun, swim with his wife Annie Grevers and host a Mutual of Omaha BREAKOUT Swim Clinic.

Matt Grevers is a class act. We get the joy of watching him swim a lot in Arizona, mostly in USAS meets and the Pro Swim Series/Grand Prix. At every event I see him, he talks with fans for hours, signing t-shirts/programs/etc. and taking countless photos. He is a huge ambassador for the sport. Just pure class and pure motivation for swimmers everywhere.

Not many swimmers out there have his simple composure / motivation and Gentleness . I love Matt , a great Class act . I hope he gets again on the podium of the 100 back this summer .

Matt dropped a :47+ 100 IM (unshaved!) and Josh blasted a :53 on his last 100 to go a 4:33 500.

Pretty impressive 500 for Davis considering it sounds like he focused his training on the 200. Based on his final 50 in the 500 (25.49!) he could break 4:30. I guess there’s always next year!

are you sure Josh Davis is 42? I think he is only 1 year younger than me. We both went to H.S. In Texas. I was class of ’88. I will be 46 this year.
