Position Overview: Lead Coach Type: Full-time or Part-time.
Title: Age Group Swim Coach Location: Carlsbad, CA Reports to: Team Owner Jeff Pease.
Location: Alga Norte Aquatics Complex, Carlsbad CA.
Workouts / Coaching : Typically after school hours 3PM to 8:30PM
Responsibilities
As the Lead Age Group Swim Coach, you will be responsible for coaching and developing swimmers in the age group program (typically 9-14 years old). You will work closely with the Head Coach to create a positive and competitive training environment. Key responsibilities include:
Coaching and Training:
- Plan and lead daily swim practices for age group swimmers.
- Provide technical instruction, stroke correction, and feedback to improve performance.
- Foster a love for the sport and encourage swimmers to reach their full potential.
Meet Preparation:
- Attend swim meets and provide on-deck coaching during competitions.
- Collaborate with other coaches to develop race strategies and relay teams.
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with swimmers, parents, and assistant coaches.
- Weekly communications with roster groups and parents.
- Conduct regular parent meetings to discuss progress and goals.
Team Building:
- Create a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline.
- Organize team-building activities and social events.
Administrative Tasks:
- Assist with meet entries, travel arrangements, and team logistics.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to program development.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: Current USA Swimming Coach Certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years coaching experience, preferably with age group swimmers.
- Passion: A genuine passion for coaching and developing young athletes.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff and club community.
