A sprint freestyler, Isabella Rosa has announced that she will be swimming for the University of Scranton in the fall. Rosa is from Easton, Pennsylvania where she swims for Easton Area High School and Two Rivers Aquatics.
“I am so blessed to announce that I have committed to Swim and study Environmental Science at the University of Scranton in the fall. I chose Scranton because it felt like home, warm and welcoming, and for their Science & Swimming program. I would like to thank Coach Chris for believing in me and making me feel so welcome to the team. After meeting with him I knew it was the right fit academically & athletically. Coach Drake for encouraging me to swim for him when I was 5 for his summer league. And my High School Coach, Matt Ellis for pushing, encouraging, and guiding me through my high school swim career. Thanks to God, my family, especially my parents and my sisters, who are my biggest fans and who constantly encourage me to do my best. This would not be possible without their love and support. Rosa took 5th in the 50 free at the 2020 PIAA District XI AAA Championship, finishing in a lifetime best of 25.14. Her best time in the 100 free comes from the same meet two years earlier when she took 13th in 56.81.

Scranton only competed in one meet during the 2020-21 season, a virtual version of the Landmark Conference Championships with each team competing in its home pool. The Scranton women finished second at the meet, finishing behind only Catholic University. In the sprint free events, the team was led by a trio of freshmen: Marina Nunziato, Gigi Baquerizo, and Alyssa Benzija. Nunziato was the top finisher in both the 50 and 100 freestyles for the Royals, taking 5th in both events. With her best times, Rosa would have scored in the top-8 of both sprint-free races.
Scranton is led by head coach Chris Brown, who has been at the helm of the program since August 0f 2019. Brown was named the Landmark Women’s Coach of the Meet at the conference championships for the second straight year in 2021.
Scranton did compete this year. The Landmark held a virtual championship meet, with teams competing in their own pools then putting the results together. Scranton women finished second, as Catholic University swept the Women’s and Men’s meet for the second year in a row.
