Springfield, Illinois’ Gage Hamill has verbally committed to swim for Indiana University in 2017-18. Hamill swims for Springfield YMCA Swim Team and Springfield High School.

Hamill adds his name to the impressive list of verbal commits for the Hoosiers’ class of 2021: Brock Brown, Bruno Blaskovic, Gary Kostbade, Jared Fitzgerald, Matthew Jerden, Mohamed Samy, Nikola Miljenić, Spencer Lehman, and Thomas Vanderbrook.
Hamill is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He swam to an 11th-place finish in the 200 free at the 2016 IHSA State Championships last February with a 1:42.19, then followed that performance up with a 1:41.26 at 2016 YMCA National Short Course Championships in April which was good enough for 20th place. He also scored at tenth place in the 200 fly with 1:51.18 at YNats. Hamill had a strong summer season, culminating in personal-bests in the 100/200m free, 100m back, and 100/200m fly at Brown Deer Sectionals.
