Versatile Spencer Lehman Stays In-State, Commits to IU Hoosiers

Northridge Area Swimming Association’s (NASA) Spencer Lehman has chosen to take his talents close to home, opting to swim for the Indiana Hoosiers in the class of 2021.

Lehman is versatile, with 2016 Olympic Trials cuts in the 200 back and the 400 IM. He’s also very strong in mid-distance freestyle– Lehman won the 500 free at the 2016 IHSAA State Championships. On top of that, he brings speed, having split a 20.67 and 45.67 on Northridge free relays.

Top Times (SCY/LCM)

  • 200 free – 1:39.59/1:55.41
  • 500 free – 4:25.60/4:04.72
  • 200 IM – 1:48.42/2:05.82
  • 400 IM – 3:52.29/4:26.57
  • 200 back – 1:47.38/2:03.79

Lehman could go a number of ways in terms of what events he could specialize in, but he’s quick enough to score in Big Ten C finals in the 400 IM and 500 free. He’s additionally fairly close to scoring times in the 200 IM and 200 back.

Lehman joins Bahamian National Teamer Jared Fitzgerald in IU‘s class of 2021 on the boys’ side.
