The high school boys swimming and diving season in Indiana will officially end on Saturday when the state meet takes place in Indianapolis.
Seeking its 11th straight state title, Carmel is once again the favorite going in with top seeds in seven events.
Before the state meet begins, here’s a look back at what happened in the 20 sectionals. To view full results of each sectional, click on the header.
- Team champion: Lake Central (486 points, won by three over Crown Point)
- Individual standouts: Lake Central senior Cal Bowman won the 50 freestyle in a time of 21.26, the 100 freestyle in a time of 47.19, and swam on two winning relay teams (200 medley and 200 freestyle). Munster sophomore Allan Galuszka won the 200 IM in a time of 1:57.88 and the 100 backstroke in a time of 52.51.
- Team champion: Valparaiso (499 points)
- Individual standouts: Valparaiso senior George Patterson won the 200 freestyle (1:39.88), the 500 freestyle (45.53) and anchored winning teams in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. LaPorte senior Lawson Wildhart won the 50 freestyle (21.37) and the 100 butterfly (50.85).
- Team champion: Penn (551 points)
- Individual standout: Penn senior Nathaniel Temeles won the 200 freestyle (1:39.93) and the 100 freestyle (45.75).
- Team champion: Culver Academies (454 points, 17 better than Warsaw Community)
- Individual standouts: Tippecanoe Valley senior Issac Whetstone won the 200 freestyle (1:43.58) and 100 freestyle (46.22), Tippecanoe Valley senior Marcus Smith won the 100 butterfly (50.65) and 100 backstroke (50.44).
- Team champion: Northridge (451 points)
- Individual standouts: Northridge senior Sawyer Lehman won the 100 butterfly (50.52), the 100 breaststroke (57.37) and swam on winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, Northridge senior Evan Haney won the 200 IM (1:53.37), the 500 freestyle (4:40.13) and swam on winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Sectional at Fort Wayne South Side
- Team champion: Homestead 500 (by 22 over Fort Wayne Carroll)
- Individual standouts: Homestead junior Hayden Lynam won the 200 IM (1:49.77), the 100 freestyle (45.81) and swam on winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Fort Wayne Carroll senior Mason Crews won the 200 freestyle (1:39.33), the 500 freestyle (4:36.39) and was anchor for the winning 200 freestyle relay team.
- Team champion: Bluffton (413 points)
- Individuals standouts: Delta senior Zachary Baty won the 200 IM (1:57.77), the 500 freestyle (4:50.58) and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team. Norwell sophomore Rylan Heyerly won the 200 freestyle (1:48.73) and 100 freestyle (49.16).
Sectional at Hamilton Southeastern
- Team champion: Fishers (535.5 points)
- Individual standouts: Hamilton Southeastern senior Jihoon Jung won the 200 IM (1:49.31), the 100 butterfly (49.28) and was a part of winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Fishers senior Jonathan Hines won the 200 freestyle (1:39.11), the 500 freestyle (4:25.36) and swam anchor for the winning team in the 200 freestyle relay. Fishers sophomore Alex Koo won the 50 freestyle (21.27) and 100 freestyle (46.19).
- Team champion: Carmel (583 points)
- Individual standouts: Carmel sophomore William Allen won the 200 freestyle (1:37.19) and 500 freestyle (4:23.31), and was part of the winning team in the 200 freestyle relay. Carmel sophomore Yi Zheng won the 200 IM (1:47.64), the 100 breaststroke (55.98) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team.
- Team champion: Crawfordsville (385 points, won by 2 over Western Boone)
- Individual standouts: South Vermillion junior Brock Skinner won the 50 freestyle (22.17), the 100 freestyle (49.43) and was a part of winning teams in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Seeger sophomore Wrede Johnson won the 200 freestyle (1:48.10) and 100 backstroke (53.67).
Sectional at Terre Haute South Vigo
- Team champion: Plainfield 444
- Individual standouts: Avon junior Ethan Miller won the 200 freestyle (1:45.95) and 500 freestyle (4:51.99). Avon senior Ethan Jennings won the 50 freestyle (21.62) and 100 freestyle (47.28). Avon junior Drew Younie won the 200 IM (2:00.53) and 100 backstroke (54.08). All three were members of Avon’s winning team in the 400 freestyle relay.
- Team champion: West Lafayette Harrison (485 points, 40 more than Zionsville)
- Individual standouts: West Lafayette senior Lucas Arnaldo won the 200 IM (1:51.83), 100 breaststroke (56.55) and swam anchor for the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Harrison sophomore Rocco Tajc won the 50 freestyle (20.61) and 100 freestyle (45.68).
- Team champion: Brownsburg (500 points)
- Individual standouts: Brownsburg senior Gavin Coggan won the 200 freestyle (1:39.95), 500 freestyle (4:31.05), and was part of winning teams in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. Brebeuf Jesuit senior Jake Tarara won the 50 freestyle (20.34) and 100 freestyle (44.60). Brownsburg senior Riley Blasisus won the 200 IM (2:00.77) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.31). Tri-West Hendricks sophomore Rushton Curry won the 100 butterfly (52.37) and 100 backstroke (53.58).
- Team champion: Franklin Central (466 points)
- Individual standouts: North Central Indianapolis senior Sam Wolfe won the 50 freestyle (21.53) and 100 freestyle (47.49) and swam leadoff for the winning team in the 200 freestyle relay, Franklin Central freshman Noah Sharp won the 100 butterfly (53.08), 100 backstroke (53.99) and was part of the winning team in the 200 medley relay.
- Team champion: Greenfield-Central (400 points)
- Individual standouts: New Castle junior Jakob Dudley won the 200 IM (2:00.73) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.45). Richmond senior Owen Fowler won the 50 freestyle (20.49), the 100 freestyle (45.69) and swam anchor for the winning 200 freestyle relay team.
Sectional at Franklin Community
- Team champion: Center Grove (525 points)
- Individual standouts: Center Grove junior Henry Lyness won the 100 butterfly (49.43), 100 backstroke (49.16) and was a part of winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Center Grove senior Max Hite won the 200 freestyle (1:40.52), 500 freestyle (4:35.49) and was part of the winning team in the 400 freestyle relay. Franklin junior Lucas Ackermann won the 200 IM (1:51.90), 100 breaststroke (55.45) and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team. Mooresville junior Diesel Molin won the 50 freestyle (21.55) and 100 freestyle (46.82).
- Team champion: Bloomington South (494 points)
- Individual standouts: Bloomington South senior David Kovacs won the 200 IM (1:49.08), the 100 backstroke (48.27), and was a part of winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Bloomington South freshman Peter Kovacs won the 200 freestyle (1:40.30), the 100 freestyle (45.62) and was a part of winning teams in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
- Team champion: Floyd Central (463 points)
- Individual standouts: Floyd Central senior Carter Bolling won the 200 freestyle (1:43.89), the 500 freestyle (4:47.77), and was a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Madison Consolidated Camdyn Sever won the 50 freestyle (21.09) and 100 freestyle (46.74).
- Team champion: Jasper (421 points)
- Individual standouts: Tell City sophomore Reid Butler won the 50 freestyle (22.03) and 100 freestyle (48.54). Bedford North Lawrence senior Garrett Gabhart won the 100 butterfly (49.92), the 100 backstroke (51.43) and swam anchor for the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Corydon Central sophomore James Williams won the 100 freestyle (1:50.60) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.46).
- Team champion: Evansville North (360 points)
- Individual standouts: Mt. Vernon junior Ozzy Jankowski won the 100 butterfly (50.71), the 100 backstroke (51.93) and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team. Evansville Reitz Memorial junior John Zeidler won the 50 freestyle (21.58) and 100 freestyle (47.48).
