Hungary swam to a win and a national record in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay to close the third night of swimming in Belgrade, Serbia. The relay swam to a 3:36.77, faster than their previous record of a 3:37.64 from the 2009 World Championships.

Split Comparison:

The biggest difference tonight was on the lead off leg as Petra Senanszky put the relay up by half a second already as well as Nikolett Padar who anchored in a 53.67, notably another half of a second faster than the previous record as Hungarian great Katinka Hosszu anchored in a 54.17 in the old record.  Hosszu notably is the National Record holder in the 100 freestyle as she swam a 53.64 in 2014. Padar won bronze in the 100 freestyle here in Belgrade last night in a 54.22.

The relay also earned the country their second gold medal of the meet. They currently hold the most medals of any country with 14 total including 2 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze.
