Heintz Puts Up Multiple Top Three Times at North Sea Swim Meet

Philip Heintz of Germany put up three short course times that rank in the world’s top three at the North Sea Swim Meet in Rogaland, Norway this weekend.

Heintz had the top performance of the weekend posting a 1:55.67 in the men’s 200 IM, which is currently the second fastest time in the world this year. Although his 200 IM garnered the meet’s top award his time of 1:55.23 in the 200 fly has him sitting atop of the world rankings.

He also recorded a 53.59 in the 100 IM, which places him second in the world rankings. All three times were new meet records.

Heintz was not the only swimmer to put up a time which is currently the fastest in the world. Italian Giorgio Gaetani won the men’s 200 backstroke in a time of 1:55.05, which is a new meet record and takes over the top spot in the world rankings from Xavier Mohammed of Great Britain.

Gaetani also set a new meet record in the 400 IM posting a time of 4:12.06 which places him fourth in the world rankings. 

Markus Lie of Norway also set two meet records. The first in 50 backstroke where he put up a 24.55 and then in the 100 backstroke where he won the event in a time of 53.08. Both of those times have him ranked third in the world.

Monica Johannessen took the meet’s top female performance for her winning time of 54.20 in the 100 freestyle.

Lisa Stram broke the only women’s meet record posting a 4:42.98.

Hi, Monica Johannessen actually broke Jeanette ottesen’s meet record (sat last year) in the 50bfly with a time of 26.16.
