Georgia HS State Champion, Emma Reiser, Commits to the University of South Carolina

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Emma Reiser, a Georgia HS 7A state champion and Winter Juniors qualifier, has announced her commitment to the University of South Carolina. Currently a junior at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia, Reiser is expected to join the Gamecocks ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

I am beyond excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina! I want to thank God, my coaches, family, and friends for their endless support! I would also like to thank the amazing coaching staff at South Carolina for giving me this opportunity! Go gamecocks!🤙🏻❤️🖤

At the 2023 GHSA 7A (largest schools) State Championships, Reiser competed in the 200 free and 500 free. She was also a member of North Gwinnett’s 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays teams.

In the 200 free, Resier finished 3rd in both prelims and finals. Her time of 1:48.75 was a new personal best by .78 seconds. In the 500, she qualified for finals in 3rd place, later taking over 6 seconds off of her prelims time to win the event. Her final time of 4:51.27 less than 2 seconds away from her personal best, set in 2021.

Best Times SCY:

  • 200 free- 1:48.41
  • 500 free- 4:49.38
  • 1650 free- 16:39.57
  • 200 fly- 2:05.08
  • 400 IM- 4:29.53

Outside of high school season, Reiser trains and competes with Swim Atlanta. Most recently, she competed at the GA Swim Atlanta Best of the South meet, where she set several new personal records. In the 200 free, she took .34 seconds off her State time, posting a 1:48.41. In the 1000 free she dropped 1.02 seconds to go 9:58.88. She also improved her 200 fly time, dropping .22 seconds to go 2:05.08.

At the 2023 SEC Championships, the South Carolina Women finished in 8th place out of 12 teams. This was their highest finish since 2012, when Texas A&M and Missouri joined the conference. They went on to send 8 athletes to the NCAA Championships, finishing in 26th with 25 points.

With another year of high school to go, Resier’s current best times would place her somewhere in the mid-40s range at SECs. Among, the Gamecock’s, however, her distance freestyle talent is much needed.

Among the 2022-2023 team, Reiser would have been 3rd in the 500 and 2nd in the 1650. Hayley Mason, a current junior, owns the second-fasted time in the 500 and the top time in the 1650 this year. Amy Riordan posted the top 500 time on the team, with a 4:45.97. A current freshman, Riordan and Reiser should be able to train together for two years.

Reiser is currently joined by 3 other commits, Grace Tuchi, Reagan Phillips, and Brooke Beede, for the 2024-2025 season.
