FRESNO, Calif.– The Fresno State swim and dive team beat Nevada in a dual meet for the first time in program history, 177-123.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State swim and dive team had their eyes set on redemption and succeeded in true Bulldog fashion, winning eight individual events and both relay events.
Junior Wiktoria Dabrowska took the crown, winning a total of four events in the dual meet. Dabrowska anchored both A relays, swimming the second-fastest split in the event for the 400 freestyle relay with a 52.14. Dabrowska also won both individual events the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle.
Sophomore Laura Kalmar won her first collegiate event in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:06.06.
Four other ‘Dogs claimed first-place individual finishes against Nevada, Aliz Kalmar (2), Samantha Arredondo, Julia Matney and Madison Caserio.
“I’m just so proud of them,” said head coach Jeanne Fleck, “the biggest thing we talked about was everyone staying in their lanes and worrying about our jobs and everyone needs to do it.”
Sophomore diver Grace Ally earns her highest finish of the season in both diving events with second place finish in 3mtr and third place finish in the 1mtr.
NOTES
- 177-123 is now the largest margin of victory for the ‘Dogs in the series with Nevada.
- ‘Dogs sweeped the top three places in two events, the 50 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle
- Fresno State won 10 out of 16 events.
- This is the first time Fresno State has beat Nevada in a dual meet, since their first meeting in Feb. 2001.

FRESNO, Calif. – Nevada leaves Fresno State with a loss against the Bulldogs, 123-177 in its first regular Mountain West matchup of the season.
The Pack started the meet with another season best finish second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.70.
Before the break, the Pack had two first place finishes before the break, most notable performances coming from Scarlett Ferris in the 100 backstroke with a season best time of 55.27 and Yasmin Perry in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.60.
Continuing the dominant performance in the backstroke and butterfly events, Molly Von Seggern and Scarlett Ferris had top two finishes in the 200 backstroke with Von Seggern recording a time of 2:06.53 and Ferris 2:07.75. Sara Mihalic finished second in the 200 breaststroke with a season best time of 2:19.74. In the 100 butterfly, Perry had a season best first place finish with a time of 55.06 and Evie Wood in third with a time of 57.71.
Ferris and Mihalic secured the third and fourth place finishes in the 200 IM with times of 2:09.23 and 2:03.29. Concluding the day, Colette Berkenfield, Evie Floate, Olivia Stevenson, and Yasmin Perry finished second in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:31.96.
The divers had a dominant performance on Friday evening, with Nevada topping the leaderboard in the 1-meter springboard and 3-meter springboard. In the 3-meter, Lucia Gabino took home first with a score of 319.80, Dani Griffin in third (257.03), and Madi Simons in fifth (221.70).
In the 1-meter, the Pack claimed first and second place with Melissa Mirafuentes in the top spot with a score 314.33. Gabino followed in second with a score of 306.23 points, Griffin in fifth (204.23), and Simons in sixth (x177.15), respectively.
