France Scratches Mixed Medley Relay Final On Day 4 of European Champs

2021 LEN EUROPEAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

France will not contest the final of the mixed 4×100 medley relay after qualifying fifth this morning.

France was 3:46.39 in heats, taking fifth and setting a new national record. But the French relay does not appear on tonight’s finals start lists. Their scratch bumps Belarus into the final in lane 8. They were 3:47.83 this morning, about two seconds off a national record.

Of France’s prelims relay swimmers, only one will compete individually tonight. Backstsroker Yohann Ndoye Brouard is in the men’s 100 back final.

Other than France, there appear to be no true scratches from tonight’s finals. A handful of top-8 or top-16 qualifier won’t compete due to rule limiting each nation to two swimmers per event.

Maybe they don’t care much for the event. Its not a classic one anyways

They have a big problem on their breastroke and no Peaty or Dressel to make up the room elsewhere.

They just gave their olympic spot to Switzerland…

Interesting, this could yield that France goes from Wildcard #3 to the first team out of an Olympic Wildcard spot (based on the write-up before the meet started plus the prelim times).

Actually France is Wilcard 4 as Brazil went 3:35
Spain is without Gonzalez on the final so, they are probably out also
Real threat to France is Switzerland now

Would you mind summarising the wildcard positions as of now?

#1 China 3:38.41
#2 Japan 3:44.75
#3 Brazil 3:45.51
#4 France 3:46.39
#5 Spain 3:46.60
#6 Switzerland 3:46.85

Spain changed Gonzales for a 55 backstroker, so I don´t think they will qualify
But Switzerland Changed their 55,3 Back for Mityukov who went 53,7 on 100 back, so big chance for them to bump France out

And the results are in, Switzerland swam faster than France’s prelim times and moves up to Wildcard spot #4
