Position Overview:

We are seeking a Club Coach to join our club and contribute to a fun and competitive swim environment. The coach will lead multiple training groups within our competitive program, working with novice to national age group swimmers aged 10–18. Principal Responsibilities – Coaching & Program Delivery:

  • Minimum 2 years of coaching experience (club or comparable level).

We are currently, predominately a 13 & Under technique focused swim program looking to take the next step in the development of the program. We currently have three practice groups: Junior Academy (6-12), Academy White (7-12), Academy Red (9-13). The Dolfins practice out of the Danvers Community YMCA (5 lanes/25 yards) and Gordon College (6 lanes/25 yards) locations. With the backing of the Swimm with Timm swim lesson program, the program has rapidly expanded the Academy since it was initiated in 2020 to approximately 70 members, while the Junior Academy has stayed a consistent 30 swimmers throughout the season. We are separate, yet associated with the Danvers Community YMCA so we have the advantage of also getting to swim the season as a YMCA team and go to YMCA Championship meets as well as USA Swimming events.

About YOU: Our employees have the opportunity to be trained anywhere from a swim instructor to a swim coach. You love being in the water and educating kids of all ages! Instructors should have a minimum of two years’ group childcare, teaching, or coaching experience and be willing to obtain CPR, first aid, and lifesaving certifications within the first six months of employment.

  • Assist with former athlete and alumni relations.
  • Assist with the compilation and maintenance of statistical information.
  • May independently supervise student managers, volunteer coaches, undergraduate coaches and other ancillary personnel.
  • When required, represent Head Coach at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, and University events.
  • Assist with the oversight and management of booster clubs and team and athletic fundraising efforts.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach is responsible for working closely with the Head Coach on managing and administering phases of these varsity intercollegiate sport programs. This position is part of the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bucknell University, a member of the NCAA Division I (FCS in Football) and the Patriot League for 23 of 27 varsity sports.

Job Duties:

 

Coaching Responsibilities (40%)

 

Lead training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Perform specific coaching responsibilities during athletic events. Perform assigned responsibilities within the daily operations and overall administration of the sports program, as assigned by the Head Coach. This may include, but is not limited to, team travel arrangements, compliance administration, development of scouting reports, planning and execution of marketing and promotional activities, etc. Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and maintain a thorough and continuing familiarity with all applicable University and NCAA regulations.

 

Recruiting (40%)

 

Scout and recruit quality student-athletes under the guidance and direction of the Head Coach. Coordinate all recruiting activities in conjunction with the Head Coach and other appropriate departmental personnel. Be responsible to identify, cultivate, and assess for a specific geographical area or position group.

 

Student Athlete Services (20%)

 

Demonstrate an active interest in the academic progress of student-athletes. Work closely with all appropriate departmental personnel to assure academic success of student-athletes. Work with student-athletes to monitor adherence to rules and regulations regarding conduct, appearance, and behavior. Provide individual counseling to student-athletes when individual counseling to student-athletes when appropriate, and direct the student-athlete to professional staff when needed. Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the safety of all student-athletes.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

-Bachelor’s degree

 

-Prior experience coaching or competing at the collegiate level (preferably with success at a comparable institution)

 

-Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
