WEST CHESTER, Penn. – The University of Delaware swimming and diving team defeated West Chester, 147-96, on Friday, Dec. 2 to close out 2022, their sixth victory of the season.
In the 50 yard free, Nicole Chiappa finished in third place (24.82), Peyton Rautzhanfinished in fourth place (25.03), and Kaitlyn Sullivan finished in fifth place (25.33). Mira Selling won the 100 free (51.33) and Chiappa (54.38) and Bella Granetzke (54.98) finished in fourth and fifth place. Delaware placed three in the top four in the 200 free, with Selling also placing first (1:49.55). Natalie Dobrzykowski finished in third place (1:57.40) and Granetzke placed fourth (1:57.40). Anthi Lyra finished in first place in the 500 free (5:08.17) and 1000 free (10:30.46). Dobrzykowski finished in fourth place in the 500 free (5:20.59), while Charlise Oberholzer placed sixth in the 500 free (5:27.56) in fifth (11:04.23) in the 1000 free.
Erin Shemacontinued her season dominance in the 200 IM with another first-place finish (2:08.02). Shema also placed first in the 100 back (57.71). Following Shema in the 100 back were Cristin Earley (59.00) and Makennah Fickett (1:01.62). Also in the 200 IM, Aislinn Mitchell finished in third place (2:08.47), Erin Lillis placed fifth (2:12.95).
In the 100 fly, Mitchell (57.88), Alexandra Misikova (58.24), and Julia Cichowska (58.60) finished three-four-five.
Lillis finished in second place in the 100 breast (1:07.80), while Marietta Gately placed fourth (1:08.36) and Jenna Leonard placed fifth (1:09.22).
The 200 medley relay team of Earley, Gately, Mitchell, and Chiappa finished in second place with a time of 1:47.36. The 400 free relay team of Shema, Dobrzykowski, Lyra, and Selling finished in first place with a time of 3:29.40.
In the 1-meter dive, Rowan O’Sullivan led the way with a score of 222.83, finishing first. Jordan Campbell (214.73) and Ella Drazek (214.73) both finished right behind. Drazek placed first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 219.68, while O’Sullivan (218.03) and Campbell (211.88) finished second and third.
Delaware will return to competition after the New Year against Drexel on Jan. 7, 2023 in Philadelphia, Penn.
WEST CHESTER, Penn. – The University of Delaware swimming and diving team defeated West Chester, 137-100, on Friday, Dec. 2 to close out 2022. This was the Blue Hens’ sixth consecutive victory.
In the 50 free, Matvei Namakonov finished in third place (21.29) while Luke Rautzhan placed fourth (21.65). Addison Collins finished in sixth place (22.24). In the 100 free, Miguel Vasquez (46.65), Ryan Polino( 46.94), and Rautzhan finished in third-fourth-and fifth place. The Blue Hens claimed the top three spots in the 200 free. Jacob Replogle (1:44.06) finished first, Vasquez (1:44.19) finished second, and Gavin Currie (1:44.59) finished third. Andrew Taylor won the 500 free (4:41.82) and 1000 free (9:46.44). Dylan Smolders (4:42.73) and Replogle (4:42.81) finished second and third in the 500 free, while while Kevin Lewke placed fifth in the 1000 free with a time of 10:14.12.
In the 200 IM, Toni Sabev finished in first place (1:54.25), while Dylan Smolders placed fourth (1:57.25) and Jack Hattery finished in fifth place (1:57.82).
Simeon Sabev led the way in the 100 fly (49.97). Hattery finished in fifth place (52.74), while Tim Grossi finished in sixth place (53.36).
In the 100 back Currie finished in third place (51.47), while T.J. Yaglenski placed fourth (52.88) and Jack Zapp finished sixth (56.57).
Toni Sabev finished first in the 100 breast (56.05), and Jack Gibson finishedJack Gibson finished in fourth place (59.14).
The 200 medley relay team of Currie, Toni Sabev, Simeon Sabev, and Namakonov finished in second place with a time of 1:32.67. The 400 free relay team of Polino, Sabev, Taylor, and Vasquez finished first place with a time of 3:05.73.
Kevin Siegfried took first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 273.00, while Philip Townsend placed second with a score of 237.23. Siegfried also won the 3-meter dive (273.00), with Townsend finishing in second (237.23).

WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester’s women’s swimming & diving squads won four events on Friday evening. However, visiting Delaware was too deep for the Golden Rams while earning a 147-96 inside the Graham Natatorium.
Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East) won the 100-yard butterfly and finished second in the 200 freestyle with an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1 minute, 50.71 seconds. Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) won the 50 free, narrowly missing a ‘B’ time. However, her second-place effort in the 100 free was good enough for a ‘B’ time.
McKenzie Hemingway (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne’s County), who finished runner-up to Niness in the 100 free, won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:06.44. She also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay that led off the meet with a first-place showing. Sam Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) and Isabella Kil (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) were also part of that relay win. Trumble added a runner-up status in the 50 free while Kil was second in the 200 individual medley.
Divers Evie Altland (Middletown, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) and Zoe Gillen (York, Pa./Dallastown) each finished fourth off the 1-meter and 3m springboard competitions.
West Chester is off until it travels to Lynn University in Florida over the semester break.
WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester’s men’s swimming & diving squads won four events on Friday evening. However, visiting Delaware was too deep for the Golden Rams while earning a 137-100 inside the Graham Natatorium.
Devin Metzgar (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) won a pair of individual events and was part of the 200-yard medley relay that led off the meet with a win to pace the Golden Rams’ effort at home. He also won the 50 freestyle and the 100 free later in the meet.
Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) added a couple of second-place finishes for his night. He was runner-up in the 50 free to Metzgar while also placing second in the 100 free to Metzgar. Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was the other winner for the Golden Rams in the 100 backstroke. He also led off the 200 medley relay that was a first-place prize.
Diver Tyler Czeiner (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) was third off both the 1-meter and 3m boards up north.
West Chester is off until it travels to Lynn University in Florida over the semester break.
