Damborg Downs Another Junior Record At 2024 Danish SC Championships

Day two of the 2024 Danish Championships unfolded from Copenhagen with another national junior record falling at the hands of Martine Damborg.

Racing in the final of the women’s 200m fly, 17-year-old Damborg produced a winning effort of 2:07.08, the sole time of the field under the 2:11 threshold.

Damborg split 28.35/31.88/33.41/33.44 to claim the gold, crushing the previous Danish Junior Record of 2:09.12 Katrine Bukh put on the books 8 years ago.

Belgian national record holder Roos Vanotterdijk followed up on her trio of medals from day one with a victory in the women’s 50m free tonight.

Vanotterdijk stopped the clock at 24.40 to lead a threesome of sub-25-second swimmers. Behind her was Elisabeth Ebbesen who snagged silver in 24.48 while teammate Anne Thastrup-Hansen bagged bronze in 24.79.

Additional Notes

  • The men’s 200m free saw Oscar Isberg get the job done, turning in a time of 1:45.06 to beat the field by just under a second.
  • Victoria Bierre punched a time of 58.64 to earn the women’s 100m backstroke gold narrowly ahead of Schastine Tabor who settled for silver only .07 back in 58.71.
  • Yesterday’s 200m fly gold medalist Casper Puggaard topped the men’s 400m IM podium in a time of 4:13.88.
  • The women’s 1500m free saw Michelle Mortensen beat the field by over 20 seconds, hitting 16:31.44 as the gold medalist.
