Skylar Elkington of Clovis West High School and Clovis Swim Club has verbally committed to swim for University of the Pacific beginning in the fall of 2017.
“I enjoyed the team and the coaches on my visit. The team environment is very positive.”
Elkington is the reigning champion in both the 50 free (23.71) and 100 free (51.26) from the 2016 CIF-Central Section Division I Championships. At the CIF State Championships, she went on to place 7th in the 50 and 10th in the 100 free, and she anchored both Clovis West’s 200 and 400 free relays, helping them to 3rd- and 5th-place finishes, respectively. In 2015 she won the 50 free and 100 fly at the Section Championships.
In club swimming Elkington competed in the 50/100 free and 50/100 fly at the 2016 NCSA Spring Swimming Championships. She swam the 50/100m free and 100m fly at the Western Zone Senior Championships in the summer of 2015, but did not compete in LCM in 2016.
Her best SCY times are:
- 50 free – 23.48 (relay split 22.6)
- 100 free – 51.26 (relay split 50.3)
- 50 fly – 25.84
- 100 fly – 55.90
Elkington is a nice get for the Tigers, who finished fifth in the MPSF standings at the 2016 conference meet. She would have scored in the A final of the 50 free and in the B finals of the 100 free and 100 fly. Elkington will have a year’s overlap with Pacific sprinter Kenna Ramey, who won the 100 fly and placed in the A final of the 50 free and the B final of the 100 free.
So excited to announce my commitment to swim at University of the Pacific!! Go tigers!🐯 pic.twitter.com/UO3GbRDqw7
