The Riptide Swim Team proudly announces the opening of Minnesota’s newest pool at its training home; the beautiful Bluewater Aquatic Center in Apple Valley, MN. Bluewater now provides 15, 25-yard lanes for Riptide; Minnesota’s largest swim team with over 450 USA Swimming registered athletes. “We’re exceptionally pleased about the expansion here at Bluewater” said owner Jim Wise. “The explosive growth of our young team fueled the need for more lanes and I’m very proud that we’ve been able to meet this demand through a significant upgrade to an already fantastic facility.”
In addition to hosting the Riptide Swim Team, Bluewater supports a variety of community events including:
• Boy’s Section 3AA High School Swimming Championships
• Boy’s & Girl’s High School True Team Swimming Section Championships
• ISD 196 Middle School Swimming Championships
• Multiple USA Club Swimming Meets
The new Bluewater practice pool provides athletes the best possible practice environment. The 7-lane pool features a UV filtration system, large windows with great natural light and a deep-water diving end with starting blocks. In addition, the pool will maintain a temperature of 81-82 degrees which is slightly warmer than a typical competition pool to enable a more comfortable water temperature for younger swimmers. In addition, the Bluewater complex is now able to run meets in its 8-lane competition pool while, at the same time, offering ample space in the adjoining pool for warm-up/cool-down work. This warm-up and cool-down capability is exceptionally valuable when hosting higher-end meets such as high school sections, high school True Teams or Riptide’s own Club meets.
Riptide Head Coach & Program Director, Mike Parratto, best known for his successful coaching partnership with decorated Olympic & World Championship Gold Medalist Jenny Thompson, is enthusiastic about Bluewater and his team’s future. “Our motto here at Riptide is, ‘Building Swimmers for a Lifetime of Success’ and we’re committed to this every day. This beautiful Bluewater facility is absolutely tremendous and we’re proud to call it home. It’s a critical component of the total package we provide to every swimmer that walks through our doors.”
