Gkolomeev, Kromowidjojo Take TYR Derby Pro Titles

2017 TYR DERBY PRO MEET

The 2017 TYR Derby Pro meet is in the books, as swimmers competed on the University of Louisville’s campus Saturday night. Several U.S. National Team members, Olympians, and international stars stepped up to compete in 3 rounds (prelims semifinals, and final) of the 50 meter freestyle all within 1 hour. The last 2 finishers were eliminated after each round, with the final 4 competing for prize money.

On the men’s side, NCAA champion Kristian Gkolomeev won all 3 rounds. His winning time of 22.03 in the final round was fast enough to dethrone last year’s champion Josh Schneider, who took 2nd followed by Joao De Lucca and Michael Andrew.

Men’s Winnings:

  1. Kristian Gkolomeev– $4,000
  2. Josh Schneider– $3,000
  3. Joao De Lucca– $2,000
  4. Michael Andrew– $1,000

World Record holder Ranomi Kromowidjojo blazed to the win on the women’s side, clocking in at 24.58 ahead of Michelle Williams, Madison Kennedy, and Kelsi Worrell.

Women’s Winnings:

  1. Ranomi Kromowidjojo– $4,000
  2. Michelle Williams- $3,000
  3. Madison Kennedy– $2,000
  4. Kelsi Worrell– $1,000

Did Kromowidjojo come all the way to the US just for this meet? Or is she swimming Atlanta this next week too?

I didn’t know it was long course, I wouldn’t have guessed Chadwick as the winner if it was, also great swim by Kristian that’s a really good time at this point in the year

They should do a 100 free and double the money and see what times they put up.
