4x Arizona State Champ Savanna Carlson Verbally Commits to Wisconsin

Savanna Carlson, a senior at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Arizona, has verbally committed to swim for the University of Wisconsin beginning in the 2017-18 season. Carlson is a four-time Arizona state champion, having won the 200 IM the last three years in a row and the 100 free, as well, as a junior. At the most recent 2016 Arizona State Swimming & Diving Championships, held at the beginning of November, Carlson won her third 200 IM title with 2:03.16, eking out a victory by 20/100. She was runner-up in the 100 free (51.45), swam fly on the medley relay, and anchored the 400 free relay; both relays placed second.

Carlson swims year-round with Phoenix Swim Club. She has Winter Juniors cuts in the 50/100 free, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM. She competed at Mt Hood Sectionals this summer in the 50/100m free, 100/200m back, 100m fly, and 200m IM, before going on to Speedo Junior Nationals to swim the 100 free and 100 fly. Her best SCY times are:

  • 200 IM – 2:02.07
  • 400 IM – 4:20.80
  • 100 fly – 55.56
  • 200 fly – 2:02.27
  • 50 free – 23.39
  • 100 free – 50.74
  • 100 back – 57.43
  • 200 back – 2:04.03

Carlson will join the University of Wisconsin class of 2021 with fellow verbal commits Alex Reddington, Avalon Schultz, Gabby Higgins, Kelsi Artim, and Madison Waechter.
