2023 Turkish Team Trials Day 2: Satir Clocks National Record In 100 Back

2023 TURKISH TEAM TRIALS

Competing on day two of the 2023 Turkish Team Trials, Mert Ali Satir produced a new national record in the men’s 100m backstroke.

Hitting a time of 54.69, 22-year-old Satir clocked a new lifetime best in a one-man time trial. Splitting 26.33/28.36, Satir overtook his own previous career-quickest time of 54.92 logged around this same time 2 years ago.

His effort this evening also surpassed the prior Turkish national record of 54.88 Berke Saka put on the books in 2022.

Satir was chasing a minimum of 54.03, the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard needed to qualify for this summer’s Wolrd Championships.

  • Batur Albayarak posted a time of 3:52.80 to take the men’s 400m freestyle.
  • The men’s 100m breast saw Emre Sakci get it done for gold in a mark of 1:00.04.
  • Gulsen Beste Samanci took the women’s 100m breast in a time of 1:09.72.
  • Polat Turnali claimed the men’s 200m fly victory in 2:00.91
  • The men’s 50m free saw Emre Gurdenli get the gold in 22.79 this evening, while Samyar Abdoli was also sub-23 in a mark of 22.90 for the silver medal.
