2016 Olympic Trials Competition Pool Build (VIDEO)

2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials

The 2016 Olympic Trials kicked off yesterday at Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska with stiff competition and exciting races. Each event thus far has been spectacular, keeping the sold out arena on their toes. Lochte’s 400 IM upset and Dwyer’s amazing performance in the 400 Freestyle are just a few of the noteworthy races that took place on the first day of Trials.

This year’s event is bigger than ever: all 15 sessions sold out and there are more than 1000 athletes competing. Much more than meets the eye goes into preparing for these events – due to the large number of athletes and attendees the pool has to be constructed specifically for the event center. Myrtha Pools was in charge if this year’s construction; the pool took over 10 days to build, and it is filled with over 2 million gallons of water. Above is a time-lapse video of the construction of the pool.
