#16 Recruit Preston Forst Verbally Commits To Stanford From Class of 2020

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

16th-ranked recruit in the high school class of 2020 Preston Forst has verbally committed to the Stanford men. The rising high school senior is among the better fly/free swimmers in his class.

Forst was actually top 10 in his class when we ranked them as high school sophomores, back in early 2018. Since then, his sprint freestyles haven’t changed a ton, but he’s seen a lot of improvement in his butterfly and mid-distance freestyle, and is a big get for new Stanford head coach Dan Schemmel.

Forst’s Top Times (in short course yards)

  • 100 fly: 47.40
  • 200 fly: 1:43.53
  • 100 free: 44.85
  • 200 free: 1:37.13
  • 500 free: 4:24.50

Forst is also a pretty solid backstroker (49.1/1:46.8) and IMer (1:49.0/3:53.0). He joins a Stanford roster that already features a 200 fly/200 free standout: rising sophomore Jack LeVant, who will be entering his third year at Stanford when Forst arrives as a freshman in the fall of 2020.

With Forst’s commitment, 17 of the top 20 recruits in the class of 2020 have committed. The only top-20 names still uncommitted at this point are #4 Adam Chaney, #13 Ethan Dang and #19 Luke Maurer.

Forst joins #11 Ethan Hu (a 45.7 flyer and 1:44.6 IMer) and #14 Rick Mihm (a 1:44.9 IMer and 1:36 freestyler) in Stanford’s suddenly-loaded class of 2024.
