Day 3 of the Futures Championships in Huntsville kept pace with the first couple days, showcasing a lot of great swimming. Laker Swimming 15-year-old Rylee Erisman won the women’s 100 fly decisively on Friday night, clocking a 59.57. The swim marked a great performance for the youngster, who entered the day with a personal best of 1:02.59 in the event. She was out fast, splitting 27.77 on the opening 50m, then came home in 31.86 to break 1:00 for the first time in her young career.

The men’s 400 free saw a great race between a pair of 17-year-olds. Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club’s Ethan Ekk won the race in 3:53.45, while Laker Swimming’s Ryan Erisman touched 2nd in 3:53.76. Neither swimmer went a personal best, as Ekk posted his career best of 3:53.35 at the Canadian Trials in May, while Erisman went 3:52.83 in February of this year.

Swim Atlanta’s Katie Christopherson clocked a 2:29.05 en route to winning the women’s 200 breast by a huge margin. She was right on her personal best of 2:28.76, which she swam in August of 2022. Christopherson will be starting her collegiate career at Virginia in the fall.

Kentucky’s John Broome won the men’s 200 breast in 2:17.17, taking nearly 3 seconds off his previous best of 219.83, which he swam last summer. Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training’s Ian Disosway, 16, was right behind Broome, taking 2nd in 2:17.61. That was a phenomenal swim for Disosway, blowing away his personal best of 2:20.63.

Sarasota Sharks’ Michaela Mattes, who also swims for Florida, won the women’s 400 free in 4:14.71. It was a decent swim for Mattes, who holds a career best of 4:09.53.

The men’s 100 fly saw Swim Fort Lauderdale’s Thomas Powers-Hammond clock a 54.46 en route to victory last night. Powers-Hammond, a future Louisville Cardinal, clipped his previous best of 54.88 in the event.

In the women’s 400 free relay, Sarasota Sharks put together a great performance, seeing Sienna Angove (56.61), Michaela Mattes (57.23), Brynn Lavigueur (56.72), and Maeve Eckerman (56.69) combine for a 3:47.25.

The men’s 400 free relay went to Huntsville Swim Association in a time of 3:26.69. Lance Young (52.14), Michael Tretyakov (52.09), William Neville (52.09), and Luke Bedsole (50.37) teamed up to get the job done.
