WV High School State Champion Macguire McDuff Verbally Commits to Florida

Parkersburg, West Virginia-native Macguire McDuff has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Florida for 2021-22. He will join the class of 2025 with David Fitch, Joaquin Gonzalez, Mason Laur, and Oskar Lindholm. McDuff wrote on social media:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at the University of Florida. Thank you to everyone who has helped get me to where I am today! Go Gators! 🔹🐊🔸 #gatornation #businessmoves #chompchomp”

A junior at Parkersburg South High School, McDuff won both the 100 free and 200 free as a sophomore at the 2019 West Virginia High School State Swimming Championships. He also swam breast on the 3rd-place 200 medley relay and anchored the runner-up 400 free relay. He did not compete at States this season.

McDuff does his club swimming with Parkersburg YMCA Sharks Swim Team. He picked up a flurry of best times (50/100/200/500 free) in December at the 58th Annual Christmas Invite in Pittsburgh, finaling in the 200 free and 100 back. In December at the SEOWV (Southeast Ohio and West Virginia YMCA League) Winter Invite, he added PBs in the 100 back, 100 breast, and 200 IM. Last summer, he improved his lifetime bests in the 50/100/200 free, 100 breast, and 200 IM at West Virginia Swimming LSC Long Course State Championships.
