Wisconsin HS Div 1 State Champion Olivia Sina Chooses UCLA (2026)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Backstroke specialist Olivia Sina has verbally committed to continuing her academic and swimming career at UCLA in the fall of 2026. Sina currently attends Oregon High School in Wisconsin and trains with the Verona Area Swim Team.

Sina was the 2024 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Champion (SCY) in the 100 backstroke in November, with a time of 54.53, which remains her lifetime best. She also placed 8th in the 100 fly (56.62), a personal best at the time.

A month later, during the Winter Junior West Time Trials (SCY), Sina posted her fastest 100 fly time of 56.58, which qualifies for the 2025 Futures Championship in Madison. At the Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West, Sina recorded a pair of personal best times in the 200 back, going 1:58.25 in the prelims before dropping down to 1:58.19 in finals. This time also qualifies her to compete at Futures.

Earlier in the year, in February at the Wisconsin SC Senior Championships, Sina secured her fastest 200 IM time of 2:07.93, placing 5th overall. She also earned second swims in five other events, finishing 2nd in the 100 back (54.98) and 200 back (1:59.45), 3rd in the 50 back (25.49), 18th in the 100 fly (57.46), and 25th in the 200 free (1:54.93).

Top Yard Times

  • 100 Back – 54.53
  • 200 Back – 1:58.19
  • 100 Fly – 56.58
  • 200 IM – 2:07.93

UCLA placed 7th out of 14 teams at the 2025 Women’s Big Ten Conference Championships in their first year in the conference. The previous year, they ranked 4th at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships. Sina will have the opportunity to help strengthen UCLA’s backstroke group in 2026.

The fastest 100 back time (52.13) for UCLA this season is currently held by graduate student Emma Harvey, while the fastest 200 back time (1:54.07) is held by junior Rosie Murphy. Sina’s 50 backstroke split of 25.49 could also be valuable for the 200 medley relays.

Sina will join Zoie Fjare, Mia Bugarin, and Sora Koike at UCLA in the fall of 2026. Fjare, Bugarin, and Koike are primarily freestyle specialists.
