WHAT Celebrates Four Class of 2020 NLI Signings

West Hartford Aquatic Team celebrated four seniors who signed National Letters of Intent to swim in college next fall. All four will compete in the NCAA Division I starting in 2020-21. Left-to-right, in the above photo, they are:

Will Layden – Providence College

Layden is a long axis stroke specialist. Since the beginning of his senior year of high school he has improved his lifetime bests in the SCY 50/100/200/500 free, 50/100 back, 100/200 fly, and 200 IM as well as the LCM 100 fly. Most of those PBs were swum at the MIT Invitational in December, where he placed 5th in the 50 free, 3rd in the 100 free, 12th in the 200 free, 8th in the 100 back, 8th in the 200 back, 22nd in the 100 fly, and 19th in the 200 IM.

Aislinn Mitchell – University of Delaware

Mitchell is a fly, back, and IM specialist from William H. Hall High School. Swimming at the Class LL Girls Swimming Class LL Fall Championships, she was runner-up in the 100 fly (55.76), placed 3rd (2:06.75) in the 200 IM, swam butterfly (25.24) on the 5th-place Hart medley relay, and led off the 9th-place 200 free relay (25.36). She wrapped up last LCM season at 2019 TYR ISCA Summer Senior Championships, where she competed in the 50/100 free, 50/100/200 fly, and 200 IM. She finaled in the 50 fly (5th), 100 fly (6th), 200 fly (9th), and 200 IM (16th), and earned PBs in the 50 fly and 200 IM.

Kate Bell – Sacred Heart University

Bell attends Conard High School. She had an outstanding meet last summer at 2019 TYR ISCA Summer Senior Championships, swimming the 200/400/800/1500 free, 200 back, and 50/100/200 fly and finaling in the 200 fly.

Ethan Brown – Villanova University

A senior at Kingswood Oxford School, Brown specializes in backstroke and IM. He placed 5th in the 200 back, 8th in the 100 back, and 9th in the 400 IM at 2019 TYR ISCA Summer Senior Championships. Since the start of his senior year he has improved his PBs in the SCY 50/100/200 free, 100/200 back, 100 breast, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM as well as the LCM 200 fly.
