The first two legs of the 2022 FINA World Cup circuit are now in the books, and there’s been no shortage of fast swimming.

At the opening stop in Berlin, several swimmers set the tone with some incredibly fast performances.

Race Video: Women’s 50 Breaststroke – Berlin

Among the athletes performing well was Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte, who came within four one-hundredths of the world record and shattered the European Record in the women’s 50 breaststroke. Meilutyte’s showing of 28.60 narrowly missed the all-time mark of 28.56, established by Alia Atkinson in 2018, and lowered the previous European Record of 28.81, which Meilutyte co-owned with Italian Benedetta Pilato.

Race Video: Women’s 200 Breaststroke – Berlin

In the women’s 200 breaststroke, we saw Tes Schouten lower her hours-old Dutch Record in the women’s 200 breaststroke, winning in a time of 2:19.55.

Race Video: Men’s 50 Freestyle – Berlin

Another big-time swim came in the men’s 50 freestyle, where Dylan Carter blasted his way to victory in a time of 20.77, breaking a 10-year-old Trinidad & Tobago National Record previously held by Olympic medalist George Bovell.
