Versatile Julia Stupar Gives Verbal Commitment to In-state Wisconsin

Julia Stupar, who swims for Stevens Point Area YMCA and Stevens Point Area High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has selected the University of Wisconsin for her verbal commitment to the class of 2022.

“I am so proud to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the University of Wisconsin Madison! I know that Wisconsin is the place where I can become the best student and athlete that I can possibly be. Ever since my first visit to campus, I couldn’t imagine myself being anything but a badger! On Wisconsin!”

At the 2016 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Meet last November, Stupar placed seventh in the 200 free (1:52.89) and eighth in the 100 free (52.18). She led off the 200 free relay (25.02) and the 400 free relay (53.10). At the 2017 Wisconsin 13 & Over State SCY Championship in March, she was an A finalist in the 100/200 free and 200/400 IM. She also competed at the 2017 YMCA Short Course National Championships, swimming in the 100/200 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM, and finishing 14th in the IM.

  • 100 free – 51.60
  • 200 free – 1:51.33
  • 100 fly – 56.57
  • 200 IM – 2:05.51

Stupar will join the University of Wisconsin class of 2022 with fellow verbal commits Alana Palmer, Holly Stoll, Lillie Hosack, and Margaret Guanci.
