Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ella Guilfoil from Fairport, New York has announced her commitment to swim and study at the University of New Hampshire beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year.

“I’m so happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of New Hampshire!  It’s been my dream to swim D1 in college all my life and I’m so excited to be able to in this next chapter.  Thank you for the support from my family, friends and coaches.  GO WILDCATS!”

Guilfoil swims for Fairport Area Swim Team (FAST) out of Fairport, NY. This spring she competed at Christianburg Sectionals where she earned multiple finals swims. She earned eighth-place finishes in the 200 backstroke and 200 IM, a ninth-place finish in the 100 backstroke, 15th-place in the 100 freestyle, and 19th in the 200 freestyle. Her 100 backstroke time of 58.53 was also a personal best time.

This summer, she competed at the ISCA Summer Blast, where she earned many finals swims and best times. Her finals places included 20th in the 200 backstroke, 25th in the 50 backstroke, 26th in the 200 IM, 29th in the 100 freestyle, and 30th in the 200 breaststroke. Her best times were in the 50 backstroke (32.41), 200 breaststroke (2:54.31), 200 butterfly (2:33.95), 200 IM (2:29.78), and 400 IM (5:19.31).

She began her senior year this fall at Fairport High School where she is a four-time All-Greater Rochester Team member.

Her best short course times are:

  • 200 IM: 2:06.69
  • 400 IM: 4:40.86
  • 100 backstroke: 58.53
  • 200 backstroke: 2:04.03
  • 100 freestyle: 52.93
  • 200 freestyle: 1:54.48
  • 500 freestyle: 5:05.94

The University of New Hampshire is a public university located in Durham, New Hampshire. The school is a member of the American East Conference. The Wildcats captured the 2021 American East Conference title.

Based on her best times, Guilfoil has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level in many events. She would have finished top 8 in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke as well as top 16 in the 100 backstroke, 400 IM, and 100, 200, and 500 freestyles.

Guilfoil will arrive on campus next fall as a member of the class of 2026 along with Sarah Guerrette, Sophia Routzahn, and Audrey Mahoney. She plans to study biomedical engineering.
