The Brighton boys and Cottonwood girls won the Utah 5A state titles, while the Cottonwood boys also came in 2nd. Both the Cottonwood boys and girls won 5 of 11 events, while Brighton’s boys only won 3 events but had more depth, allowing them to hold off Cottonwood’s boys.

Rhyan White won 2 individual events, and was a member of 2 winning relays for Cottonwood. White started out the meet by leading off the relay with a 25.12, followed by Emma Walker (31.25), Madison Cutler (26.37), and Makayla Harris (25.02), who combined to win the event with a 1:47.78. White then went on to take the 100 fly with a 55.04, winning by over 3 seconds, and narrowly missing the 5A state record of 54.86. She then won the 100 back, posting a 53.55 to win by 4 seconds. White was just off her own overall Utah state record of 53.45. White finished the meet by anchoring the 400 free relay team of Katelyn Price (54.94), Jessica Loyd (53.77), and Quinn Stephenson (53.65) with a 52.02, finishing the relay in 3:34.38.

Rachel Butler broke the overall Utah state record in the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:03.87. Butler had a quick backstroke split at 29.70, the only in the field under 30 seconds. Runner-up Makayla Cazier went a 2:06.16, which was the 2nd fastest time across all 4 of Utah’s state meets this year combined.

Cameron Green took down the 5A record in the boys 100 back, posting a 49.95 to win by .70 seconds over Talmage Corey. Green was also just.08 seconds off the overall Utah state record of 49.87. Blayze Kimble took a pair of event wins, coming in the 200 IM and 100 breast. Kimble took the 200 IM with a 1:55.55, which was the 2nd fastest time in all 4 state meets. In the 100 breast, Kimble went 57.94 to beat Jack Binder in a tight race, where Binder went 58.06. Those were the fastest times in all 4 of the state meets.
