Abby Springer of Paso Robles, CA has announced her decision to further her academic and athletic careers at the University of Redlands beginning in the 2021-2022 season. She is a senior at Paso Robles High School and she swims year-round for the Paso Aquatic Club.

I loved the academic reputation of Redlands and I am thankful for all of the support and encouragement that Coach Whittemore has given me. I look forward to studying and swimming at a school with the atmosphere and beauty of Redlands. The student population is the perfect size and I love the architecture and accessibility of the campus. I can’t wait to meet the people and my new teammates.

Springer is in her final season swimming for Paso Robles High School. She played water polo her first three years, but the season was canceled her senior year.

In 2018, the freshman was 5th in the 200 IM at the Mountain League Championships and 4th in the 500 free. She was also 4th in the 500 free in 2019. After her sophomore year, Springer was named to the All-League First Team.

In February of 2020, Springer competed at the Central California Junior Olympics, claiming titles in three individual events. She won the women’s 15-18 200, 500, and 1000 free. She earned silver medals in the 100 back and 1650 free, and bronze medals in the 200 back and 200 IM.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 1:00.81
  • 200 back – 2:13.72
  • 200 free – 1:58.89

When she arrives on campus, Springer plans to pursue a degree in Biology. She will be a top freestyler for the Bulldogs. During the 2020-2021 season, she would have been the team’s top competitor in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 free.

Springer will join the team as a member of Redlands’ class of 2025.
