What do you do when you’re tapering, whether you are an age grouper, masters swimmer or US National Team member? You play…maybe too much with all of your building energy; blow bubble rings, slide on waterslides, etc.

hey Mel, love all those pix of the team thx!
i think Michael’s eating “percebes” (or gooseneck barnacles which is an expensive delicacy in Spain & Portugal according to wiki). n the 2 swimmers in the bubble rings photo are Maya & Karlee?
found some more images from training camp, some cute ones…

Is it me is something wrong with the Hardy picture?
I was amazed by the picture of Vollmer with Missy in the Captain’s article. Vollmer’s feet are huge. Lots of things (ability, training, work ethic, coaching, drive, technique) go into the making of elite swimmers, but it’s hard to ignore the obvious physiological advantages/attributes too.
I remember reading somewhere that Ruta Meilutyte has had size 43 feet since she was about 13 (US size 11) Considering she’s tall but not hugely so (about 5′ 8″ I think) those are big feet. That’s got to help with getting some propulsion into that breaststroke kick.
Hahah. Bobo, I know you’re kidding. It’s taken underwater and it distorts her shape. Look at the lane lines at the bottom of the pool and how they’re twisting; especially the one which goes under Jessica.
Of course Hardy has powerful legs but not that powerful.
Muscular, powerful, for me it’s the same. You’re right about the distortion underwater. Everything seems normal for Jessica!
And duckduckgoose, I believe Missy’s feets are also big. Always an advantage.
Cool, thanks to freebee, we have a very interesting discussion here about size of thighs, size of feets.
Would you compare that huge ice cream (or Gelato) to eating hamburgers, aka a struggle to follow the puritan life of a professional athlete? I’m starting being worried about these American professionals. They’re spending their time on sounloungers, eating huge ice creams and the meeting is already behind the door! Hahaha. I change my picks, for goodness’ sake, if such an unorthodox behaviour continues 🙂
By the way, I’m following Women’s Euro Champ soccer game, DEN-FRA, just at the moment via my new eurosport player, which I was compelled to subscribe in order to see more aquatics. They’re playing at a mid-sized stadium that is almost full. I’d… Read more »
If USA again has great results, we now know their secrets! An ice cream every day the week before the start of the meet!
And about the comparison, I believe Miss DiRado is definitely in a much better shape than Leveaux. So she can eat this ice cream. I hope there isn’t a McDonald’s near the hotel of the French team. The result of the men’s 4X200 free relay depends perhaps on that little detail. 😆
Dear swimmama, you are very sensitive! I only answered to a comment about the picture of Miss Hardy and I said everything seemed normal for me. Then came a discussion about the feets. Nothing wrong with that.
I’m sure Americans are right now organizing a mobile McDonald’s to be established at the front of the French hotel. Free Big Macs are offered to French swimmers by Swimming USA on the eve of Men’s relay finals.

Lovely to see them having fun , relaxing , being creative and most important building up strong team spirit ( many victories ( or best races ) in relays may depend on that factor !! ) .

What? She has 2 arms and 2 legs on the picture. Everything seems normal.
her low body, thighs in particular, looks huge and I know she is quite thin and fit–I just wanted to see if anybody noticed besides me
Yes, she has muscular thighs.

I started loosing respect for your active commentaries when you start comparing women’s body parts. What is wrong with you guys?

Jordan Mattern?
It seems correct.

Yes, it’s Jordan. Chloe did not list her on her tweet.
I love these in-the-moment photos that shows the other side of these swimmers! Just reminds us they are normal people like us.
