Summer Nationals Qualifier Devyn Caples (2024) Verbally Commits to Princeton

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Devyn Caples, a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Pleasanton, California, has announced his verbal commitment to the application process* at Princeton University where he plans to study engineering. He will join #15 Andrew Zou and Logan Noguchi in the men’s swimming and diving class of 2028.

“I am very honored to announce my commitment to the application process at Princeton University! I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for their support on my swimming journey.  I’d like to give a special thanks to Coach Matt and Coach Abby for giving me this amazing opportunity.  Go Tigers! 🐅 “

Caples is a junior at Amador Valley High School; he swims year-round with Crow Canyon Sharks under Joe Natina. As a sophomore at the 2022 CIF North Coast Section Championships, he won the 200 IM (1:50.28) and came in third in the 500 free (4:30.56), qualifying for the California State Championships in both events.

In December, he competed at 2022 Winter Juniors West in Austin and came away with new PBs in all five of his events, including a 4-second drop in the 400 IM at a 14-second improvement in the 1650 free. He finished 12th in the mile (15:23.50), 19th in the 400 IM (3:50.66), 28th in the 200 IM (1:49.12), 28th in the 500 free (4:28.72), and 33rd in the 200 breast (2:02.10). Most recently, he won the 1000 free, was runner-up in the 1650, and came in third in the 400 IM at Speedo Sectionals in Carlsbad in March.

A 2022 USA Swimming National Select Camp invitee, his best times include:

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
