2024 Sprinter Logan Noguchi Hands Verbal Commitment to Princeton

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Logan Noguchi from Encinitas, California, has announced his verbal commitment to the application process* at Princeton University. He wrote on social media:

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the application process at Princeton University. I would like to thank Coach Matt and Coach Abby for this amazing opportunity to further my academic and swimming career. I would also like to thank my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me through my journey. Go Tigers! 🐅🐅”

A junior at San Diego’s Torrey Pines High School, Noguchi swims for his high school and for the club team Coronado Swim Association-Team Elite. We named him to the “Best of the Rest” section of our Way Too Early list of top recruits from the high school class of 2024.

As a sophomore at the 2022 California CIF San Diego Section Division I Championships, he won the 200 IM (1:48.55) and 100 back (48.36) with Section records and lifetime bests. A week later he competed at the California State Meet and placed fourth in the IM and sixth in the back. He improved his time to 1:47.96 in the 200 IM.

Recently, he went best times in the 50/100/200 back and 200 fly at the Kevin Perry Invitational hosted by La Mirada Armada.

Noguchi had a successful 2022 long course season, too, going best times in the 100 fly (55.42) and 200 IM (2:08.24) at Speedo Junior Nationals; the 50 free (23.84) at Speedo Grand Challenge; the 50 back (27.25) and 200 back (2:08.88) at Fran Crippen SMOC; and the 200 fly (2:04.42) and 400 IM (4:41.65) at So Cal Invite. At Juniors, he swam the butterfly leg on the relay that won the junior national title out of the second-to-last heat.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free – 20.28
  • 100 free – 45.36
  • 200 free – 1:38.96
  • 200 IM – 1:47.96
  • 50 back – 22.33
  • 100 back – 48.18
  • 200 back – 1:47.70
  • 100 fly – 48.10
  • 200 fly – 1:47.22

Noguchi will join the Tigers’ class of 2028 with times that would already score at Ivy League Men’s Championships in the B finals of the 100 back and 100/200 fly and the C finals of the 200 free, 200 IM, and 200 back.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
